Bumi Manusia: Revisited

Bumi Manusia : Revisited

Masnoor Ramli Mahmud’s Bumi Manusia was first exhibited at the Galeri Petronas in May 2007. It featured the artist’s works produced during and after an exploration with a Petronas exploration team in Indonesia.

Ten new works were shown at the private gallery in the Petronas Twin Towers and they spanned drawings, videos, and paintings, and photographs of the people and places the MATAHATI member encountered during his travels.

These works were re-exhibited in Penang in 2010 under the title Bumi Manusia: Revisited. 12’s involvement in the exhibition saw its team reexamine Masnoor’s body of work within a neo-colonial framework and question the positive and negative implications of his journey in Indonesia.

Besides reframing Masnoor’s artworks, Bumi Manusia: Revisited also introduced the artist’s works to a different audience.
